OzHarvest launch Think. Eat. Save.

Think.Eat.Save 2015 by OzHarvest was launched this week at Parliament House – with OzHarvest working with the parliament kitchen to create a meal for politicians from food that would have otherwise gone to landfill.

A partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme, Think.Eat.Save is a lunch time event that provides a free, vegetarian meal to the public to help raise awareness around food waste and food insecurity in Australia. The meal and event relies upon volunteers, sponsors and community leaders, and is created from surplus produce that would otherwise go to waste.

I chose to participate in the OzHarvest CEO Cookoff earlier in the year, and was absolutely inspired by the professionally executed fundraising event, people involved and the goals of OzHarvest.
OzHarvest is also one of the only food charities to accept perishable waste, which is a perfect match for a catering business such as BYT !

We’re looking forward to supporting OzHarvest with their Melbourne Think.Eat.Save event on Monday 27th July at Fed Square. For more information on how you can help AND on Australia’s scary food waste stats, check out http://www.ozharvest.org/what-we-do/.

* The Sustainable Table is also a great resource for info on reducing food waste.
